Compared to a weeping fig (Ficus benjamina), this houseplant has a much more elegant look. In its natural habitat, it can even become a tree, growing up to 25-30 metres tall, but indoors it also grows relatively fast. When it outgrows its space, you may want to cut it back, and it will nicely sprout new shoots in different directions at the points where it was cut.

Fun facts
Fun facts
The plant can be classified into a subgenus called banyan, the members of which begin their life as epiphytic (i.e. tree-dwelling) plants. The seeds are most often propagated by birds. When the seeds start to germinate, roots “heading” toward the ground cover the host plant. Its original habitat is the southern part of India, where we can find exceptionally large specimens, even 50-60 metres in height.
