It is a fern native to subtropical areas of America. The fronds are silvery-blue and have a frosted appearance. Its Hungarian name ‘orange-spot fern’ (Narancspöttyös páfrány), comes from its brightly coloured spore cases, which are orange and form small fleecy colonies on the undersides of the fronds.
